HUGE SUCCESS AT GETXO’S CHORAL DAY
June/29/2009
Getxo’s
II Choral Day took place last June 21st beneath the
marquis at the Saint Eugene Plaza in Romo
and was
hugely successful both thanks to the participation of
choral groups from all around the council as well as
in audience.
A total
of 9 choral groups took part; Eskuz-eskuz, made up of
white voices solely, several mixed groupings,
Ondarreta, Xoxoak, Irutasun, Gorrondatxe, Itxartu and
Tangora Soinutarrak as well as the Erromo’ko
Kanatariak and the Biotz Alai and as the two deep
voice choirs. The audience readily applauded all the
choirs; special mention to the sensational
performance of Kitolis by the Biotz Alai accompanied
by 4 dancers from the Aratz Taldea Gorliz group who
danced the espatadantza (sword dance).
Koldo Iturbe, culture councilman, handed over to all a figurine in commemoration of the concert and finally everyone joined in singing the Agur Jaunak (Farewell song) under Manuel Torre Lledo, Ondarreta conductor’s baton.
